Dermaplaning Aftercare: Maintaining Your Results
Your skin will be freshly exfoliated and more sensitive after your treatment. Follow these simple aftercare steps to protect your skin and maximize your glow:
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Freshly exfoliated skin needs moisture. Apply a gentle, nourishing moisturizer morning and night to keep your skin barrier healthy.
- Prioritize Sun Protection: Your skin will be more susceptible to UV damage. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 48 to 72 hours.
- Pause the Active Ingredients: Give your skin a break from harsh exfoliants. Avoid retinols, AHAs (like glycolic or lactic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid), and facial scrubs for 3 to 5 days post-treatment.
- Keep it Cool: Avoid extreme heat, including saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, and intense, sweaty workouts for the first 24 to 48 hours to prevent irritation.
- Go Bare (if you can): We recommend letting your skin breathe and avoiding makeup for the first 24 hours. If you must wear makeup, ensure your brushes and sponges are freshly cleaned!
